INDONESIA. Heinemann Asia Pacific has opened Surabaya Duty Free and Bon Bon Voyage at Terminal 2 of Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Indonesia. The two new stores are part of a joint venture by Heinemann Asia Pacific and Plaza Bali Duty Free and managed by the former.

Located at Level 2, International Departure Hall, Surabaya Duty Free is a 548sq m airside multi-category duty free shop offering a range of perfumes and cosmetics, leather goods, travel accessories, liquor and tobacco, fashion and accessories, confectionery and local delicacies.

International brands being offered in the perfumes and cosmetics category include Estée Lauder, Lancôme, SK-II, Clinique, and L’Occitane, while luxury fashion and accessories brands include Montblanc, Calvin Klein, Swarovski and Lacoste. The selection also comprises confectionery brands such as Godiva, Lindt and Guylian, and leading wine and liquor brands Absolut, Baileys, Chivas Regal, Jack Daniel’s, Johnnie Walker, Torres and Penfolds.

Inspired by stylish and contemporary architecture, the store is designed to create a spacious and “˜unrestricted’ shopping experience, with an open and airy shopping environment. Each section is subtly separated with the use of colours and textures. Integrated into the design is international fashion brand Lacoste’s latest shop-in-shop concept.

To mark this successful project with Angkasa Pura Airports, Heinemann Asia Pacific has commissioned a local artist to sculpt a pair of “˜Karapan Sapi’ (Maduranese racing bulls), a symbol of the traditional bull racing sport held especially for celebrations. The sculpture is painted in Surabaya Duty Free’s signature red and blue colours to commemorate the special occasion.

Heinemann Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer Max Heinemann said: “The great partnership and line-up with the top brands across all categories underlines Heinemann Asia Pacific’s vision for Indonesian travel retail and the shared view on strong growth in the airport and retail scene. With the vast potential in Indonesia, we are very pleased to be able to participate in Indonesia’s travel retail market. Surabaya Duty Free is our first multi-category store in Indonesia and we look forward to a successful venture here.”

Bon Bon Voyage, a 141sq m landside packaged food shop, carries a wide assortment of chocolates, candies and popular local food and delicacies such as smoked milk fish, fruits chips and layer cakes.

Inspired by the concept of a candy wonderland, the shop design features a red and white striped theme – the colours of a candy cane – and locally inspired push carts instead of traditional gondolas to add a touch of whimsy and fun into the shopping experience.

“Like all our other retail shops, we want to bring our customers a complete and different shopping experience, from the assortment we carry to the shop design. We are very happy to be working with Plaza Bali and Angkasa Pura Airports and together with their great support; we look forward to a successful start in Indonesia,” Max Heinemann added.
