Highland Park captures the Light of Orkney with TREX 11 Year Old single malt expression

Positioned as the youngest whisky in Highland Park’s TREX range, Light of Orkney 11 Year Old was launched as an entry-level format to introduce consumers to the brand’s signature sweet, smoky style

Edrington Group has launched Highland Park Light of Orkney 11 Year Old, a travel retail-exclusive (TREX) single malt inspired by the distinctive summer light of the Scotch whisky’s island home.

The expression marks the latest addition to Highland Park’s travel retail range and is being rolled out globally, supported by a programme of in-store activations throughout the year.

Distilled in Orkney and matured for 11 years, the whisky has been aged in a combination of sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks, bourbon casks and selected refill casks.

The resulting flavour profile balances lively fruity notes with caramelised sweetness, bright citrus character and delicate floral smoke from Highland Park’s Orkney heathered peat. Edrington says the whisky is a “perfect introductory offering” to Highland Park’s signature smoky, sweet profile.

The launch underlines Highland Park’s continued focus on TREX releases

Light of Orkney 11 Year Old is the youngest whisky currently available in Highland Park’s TREX line-up.

The brand said the release offers an accessible entry point for travellers seeking to discover Highland Park’s signature style. It has an RRP of US$55.

Packaging and point-of-sale materials place a strong emphasis on Orkney provenance and storytelling. The design features a strata pattern intended to evoke the shimmering spectrum of summer light across the island. The colour palette draws inspiration from Orkney’s moors, hillsides and dramatic coastal cliffs.

Edrington Regional Managing Director Western Europe & Global Travel Retail Kasper Andersen said, “Light of Orkney is a great place for travel retail consumers to start exploring Highland Park’s signature sweet-smoky flavour.

“The whisky has been introduced to anchor the travel retail range and will play a key role in strengthening Highland Park’s travel retail portfolio by supporting consumer trade-up as well as appealing to several different shopper missions.

“We’re confident that the accessible price point and flavour profile of the whisky will encourage trial and recruitment into Highland Park.”
