EGYPT. Autogrill subsidiary HMSHost Europe, in conjunction with its local Egyptian business partner Sabet, today announced the award of its first contract for dining concessions at Egypt’s Cairo International Airport.
The five-year agreement includes the development and operation of five food & beverage locations in the airport’s new Terminal 3, scheduled to open in October.
“We are proud to welcome a global partner like HMSHost into the Cairo Airport,” said Cairo Airport Company Chief Commercial Officer Jean-Pierre Tabet. “With an enhanced variety of exciting food & beverage concepts for our passengers, HMSHost’s development plans for Terminal 3 will deliver innovative dining and beverage venues with a mixture of local and international brands tailored to meet the needs of our passengers.”
The new food and beverage concepts coming to Cairo International Airport, the main gateway to Egypt, will include:
• Puro Gusto: This popular proprietary coffee will offer a wide variety of classic and speciality coffees along with a variety of sweet and savoury foods, including desserts and croissants, sandwiches, salads and snacks.
• Heineken Bar: Specifically developed for Cairo Airport, this unique bar has a contemporary design and will offer premium speciality beers as well as entertainment through several LCD screens at its airside location.
• Saqqara Café: This locally inspired concept where East meets West will offer an assortment of plated, grill and to-go items including fresh salads such as Taboulli and Fattouch, wraps such as Kashmiri Lamb and Egypt Chicken, Falafels, Shish selections including Mediterranean Lamb and Halloumi Cheese, as well as a variety of Shish sandwiches made with the freshest ingredients and spices.
• Coffee Time: This concept attracts all audiences with its characteristic coffee environment offering the popular brand of Segafredo coffee, sandwiches, Sakkara beer and international drinks.
• Cilantro: This popular local concept is based on the first Cilantro Café, which opened in Cairo in 2000, and will offer good coffee, fresh juices, salads and snacks.
“We are extremely pleased to partner with HMSHost in the company’s first venture in Egypt. Our knowledge of the local market in combination with their global experience ensures a successful business relationship for the new operations at Cairo Airport,” said Sabet Group owner Ismail Sabet.
“We are excited that, together with our experienced partner Sabet, we’ve taken our first step into the Egyptian market. We look forward to launching a custom designed concession program that offers sophisticated food and beverage options featuring local and international flavour,” said HMSHost Europe Managing Director Walter Seib. “Our goal is to exceed Cairo International Airport passengers’ expectations and make their day better.”
The airport serves more than 12 million passengers per year. The new T3 is expected to handle over 9 million passengers, primarily from Egypt Air and the Star Alliance members.
