CHINA. Dufry company HMSHost International has extended its presence in China with the opening of four outlets at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, under a five-year agreement. The spaces span over 1,000sq m, with several brands making their debuts in China. The offer features a blend of Western and Asian concepts.

HMSHost International Regional Managing Director Asia Pacific David Mackay said: “What a brilliant sign of recovery. The Asia and Pacific region represent a strong opportunity of growth for our company and we are thrilled to be entering a new airport in the People’s Republic of China.
“I am so pleased with the collaboration with the Chongqing Airport Authority, as we work together to support their business goals and redefine the food & beverage offering at the airport. We look forward to boosting our local presence and giving travellers through Chongqing the ultimate HMSHost experience: attention.”

Sino-Singapore Chongqing Airport Commercial Management Co., Ltd, General Manager Ma Yan said: “HMSHost is the world’s largest provider of food & beverage services for travellers, and we are delighted to partner with them to refresh our dining experience at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
“The partnership is an affirmation of HMSHost’s trust in our capabilities and our step-up efforts to build an international standard in culinary experience. We constantly strive to create better airport commercial experiences for our guests. With the new store openings, locals and travellers will be spoilt for choice with Chongqing Airport’s refreshed offerings.”
The HMSHost offer includes casual dining concept Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao from the Michelin star and Bib Gourmand-recognised Crystal Jade restaurant group, with its twist on lamian and dim sum, alongside signature dishes.
Also now open is Australian café concept The Coffee Club; its all-day dining concept offers eggs benedict, smashed avocado and Nutella pancakes with fresh berries among other items.

Puro Gusto, recognised as Chain Industry Influence Brand 2021, serves guests Italian coffee and gourmet food, while American fast-casual concept The Habit Burger Grill offers a selection of its popular Charburgers.

HMSHost said it had adopted “a balanced growth strategy” in China. “With a focus on selecting airports with great potential, the company identifies airports that are strong in the domestic market or located centrally to domestic tourist destinations.”
A leading gateway to Central China, Chongqing International Airport is the country’s fourth busiest airport and in 2021 handled nearly 36 million passengers. Since entering China in 2015, HMSHost International now has a portfolio of concessions at four airports in the country.
