HMSHost opens First La Place Express at Schiphol Airport

THE NETHERLANDS. HMSHost today added to its powerful airport food & beverage portfolio with its latest opening at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

HMSHost has brought the Express concept of La Place, part of the popular Dutch department store chain Vroom & Dreesman, to one of the busiest areas of Schiphol.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Director Business Area Consumers Otto Ambagtsheer said he was proud to have the first La Place Express at the airport. “The fresh assortment is a great completion to our food & beverage product range at Schiphol,” he said. “Offering our passengers more and more healthy organic and fresh meals supports our ambition to become Europe’s preferred airport.”

HMSHost’s culinary team will create fresh dishes made from organic ingredients at La Place Express. As with the airport’s recently opened Dutch Kitchen Bar & Cocktails, La Place takes special care to source products and ingredients from local Netherlands producers.

The assortment of dining choices includes freshly filled paninis, made from dough which is kneaded and baked on site. Oven fresh viennoiseries, and a wide variety of fruit and vegetable juices, organic iced teas, lemonades and vitamin waters are also available.

Customers can buy salads and fresh meals from La Place Express 24 hours a day as well as dine on the spot, or take the meal home or to the office.

From its Schiphol Plaza location in advance of passport control, the new quick service restaurant is accessible to everyone-from travellers to meeters & greeters and airport staff.

HMSHost EMEA Vice President Dawn Wilding said: “La Place is a very familiar and recognisable name for our national passengers so it is a highly valued brand for the airport.

“With La Place, we’ve brought another restaurant that brings the authentic Dutch experience to this airport. We’re pleased to continue to enhance our food and beverage programme here to make the traveller’s day better.”

Schiphol is one of Europe’s leading aviation gateways, welcoming more than 43.6 million airport travellers last year. HMSHost operates more than 60 restaurants and coffee shops – including Dutch Kitchen Bar & Cocktails, Cafe Chocolat and Bubbles – at the airport.
