HONG KONG, CHINA. Hong Kong International Airport is preparing for the opening of its upgraded Terminal 2 from 27 May, with 15 airlines set to move their check-in counters to the new passenger departure area.

As reported, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced the opening date of the passenger departure facilities at T2 in February.
Among the carriers are three home-based airlines, Hong Kong Express, Hong Kong Airlines and Greater Bay Airlines, each moving their operations from Terminal 1.
Access to T2 will be supported by multiple public transport links, with the departures level seamlessly connected to the Airport Express platform, where train doors open on both sides to serve both terminal buildings
The passenger facilities at the expanded terminal will be rolled out in phases, enabling the airport to respond effectively to passenger demand and projected traffic growth during the busy summer travel season.
The departures level at T2 will be served by 29 bus routes and connected by a covered walkway to Car Park 3, a six-storey facility offering over 1,000 parking spaces.
The airport highlighted its close cooperation with government departments, airlines, passenger-handling agents and other stakeholders ahead of the departure facilities opening.
The authority noted that additional passenger facilities in T2 will be brought into operation according to passenger traffic demand. ✈
