HONG KONG. Airport Authority Hong Kong is tendering a number of food & beverage spaces in Terminal 1 Arrivals and Departures at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
The first concession opportunity includes a quick service sit-down restaurant for Chinese and/or Southeast Asian cuisine in 162sq m of space, alongside a further 121sq m western or Japanese-style sit-down outlet. Both units are located in the Level 5 Arrivals Pre-Immigration Hall (restricted area).
A further concession offer two units serving coffee/tea/juice/light refreshments, in Arrivals and Departures, in 41sq m and 85sq m respectively; and there is also a 54sq m bakery concession available in landside Arrivals.
Announcing the opportunity, HKIA said that it offered an “unrivalled location to reach millions of high-spending visitors” within less than “five flying hours of half the world’s population”.
It cited strong spending power from Mainland China (20% of traffic), Taiwan (16%), South & Southeast Asia (15%), plus Europe, Africa & Middle East (13%).
Of the passenger demographic, 80% of passengers are tertiary-educated; 47% are professionals, managers, executives or proprietors; with average monthly personal and household income of HK$38,000 and HK$57,000 respectively.
On the F&B opportunity, the airport noted that 57% of departing passengers and 33% of well-wishers and meeters & greeters dine at HKIA. Airport shoppers dwell for four hours on average, it added.

HKIA is one of the world’s busiest passenger airports with a record-breaking 59.9 million passengers in 2013 – representing annual growth of +6.1%.
