Hudson bolsters US presence with eight-year contract for three stores at Salt Lake City Airport

USA. Travel experience specialist Hudson, part of Avolta, has captured an eight-year contract to operate three additional stores at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

The contract extends Hudson’s North America footprint, with more than 1,000 stores in airports, commuter hubs, landmarks and tourist destinations across the region.

Under the agreement, the company will manage more than 204sq m of retail space in Concourse B as part of Phase 4 of the airport’s US$5.1-billion redevelopment programme to deliver ‘The New SLC’.

Hudson’s retail mix will include a travel convenience store and two specialty concepts designed exclusively for SLC, representing Utah’s distinctive character.

Since it established its presence at SLC in 2015, Hudson has expanded to over a dozen travel convenience and specialty retail stores. These include Hudson Nonstop, Frye, Tumi, Utah!, Central Point Market and MAC.

Avolta President and CEO, North America Steve Johnson said: “These new retail offerings will complement the growing concessions programme at Salt Lake City International Airport and provide travellers with more opportunities to enjoy their journey, whether they are flying to or through the airport.

“In partnership with SLC over the last decade, we have crafted our retail programme to appeal to the airport’s diverse visitors, catering to locals, domestic passengers and international travellers alike. We are proud to be a part of ‘The New SLC’ to help usher in the future of travel with an enhanced passenger experience.”

Hudson will operate the stores as a joint venture, HG SLC Concessions JV, with two women-owned Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) partners: Albright International, Inc. and Tu Gals, LLC.

Art of Aesthetics will enhance the airport’s diverse retail line-up

Cosmetic and wellness clinic Art of Aesthetics will make its airport debut at Concourse B of The New SLC with Hudson. The new concept was designed in collaboration with Dr. Mark B. Taylor, a Salt Lake City dermatologist who is popular among locals, influencers and international celebrities.

Art of Aesthetics specialises in personalised beauty experience, offering VISIA skin analysis and a curated selection of the latest skincare and hair care solutions. These include Alastin Skincare, skinbetter science, SkinCeuticals and Nutrafol.

Gateway Aesthetic Institute and Laser Center, Salt Lake City Founder and Medical Director Mark B. Taylor said: “I am so excited to be able to offer safe convenient treatments to busy travellers who are often pressed for time to schedule appointments in the clinic.

“These treatments, along with professional-grade beauty products, will help travellers of all ages look their best for whomever they are meeting or wherever they are going.”

Utah National Parks is another specialty retail concept exclusively designed for Salt Lake City Airport.

The store will highlight a strong Sense of Place, featuring the state’s top national parks, popularly known as ‘The Mighty 5’.

Hudson has teamed up with the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, to offer themed merchandise at the store.

Among the exclusive selection of products to be showcased are souvenir apparel, hats, local snacks, books, and novelty items, highlighting Utah’s natural, historic and cultural treasures. The store will raise funds to support the National Park Foundation’s mission to protect and enhance America’s national parks for present and future generations. ✈
