Hudson Group names new head of merchandising – 05/06/08

US. The Hudson Group has appointed Michael S. Levy as Chief Merchandising Officer (CMO) and Senior Vice President of Merchandising.

Levy, described as “a career retail executive with strong systems skills” will lead the company’s merchandise initiatives.

A graduate of Syracuse University, Levy is a veteran of 16 years with retail companies such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Brooks Brothers and Polo Ralph Lauren.

Commenting on the new appointment, Hudson Group President and CEO Joseph DiDomizio said: “Michael has been involved in high-end specialty retailing for his entire career. He has extensive experience in apparel, gifts, accessories and shoes, most recently as Vice President/Divisional Merchandise Manager for Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet’s Men’s and Children’s departments.

“His deep knowledge and understanding of these businesses will be a tremendous asset to Hudson as we execute our plans to expand our specialty retail portfolio both domestically and internationally.

“In addition, Michael’s knowledge of state-of-the-art inventory tracking and reorder systems will build on our previous successes and greatly enhance Hudson’s operational performance in our core newsstand business as well as specialty retailing.

“We are delighted to have the services of this talented professional to help guide Hudson’s future business direction. I strongly believe that his presence will create many new opportunities for our continued growth.”
