Ian Macleod Distillers unveils travel retail-exclusive Scotch whiskies from Glengoyne and Tamdhu

Spotlight on Glengoyne: The 12 Year Old First Fill Edition takes centre stage at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 2 in collaboration with Avolta

Ian Macleod Distillers has released two travel retail-exclusive single malt scotch whiskies: Glengoyne Highland Single Malt 12 Year Old First Fill Edition and Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Gran Reserva Batch 5.

Glengoyne 12 Year Old First Fill Edition (ABV 43%) joins the channel-exclusive Spirit of Time collection, replacing the 10 Year Old expression.

Matured in a combination of first-fill oloroso sherry and American oak bourbon casks, the release is priced at US$93. It was awarded a Gold Medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2025.

Tamdhu Gran Reserva is matured exclusively in European oak first-fill oloroso sherry casks and aged in the distillery’s traditional dunnage warehouses in Speyside, Scotland.

The 70cl bottling (US$269) is non-chill-filtered, bottled at 46% ABV and naturally coloured. It is packaged in a purple and gold gift box.

Ian Macleod Distillers Head of Global Travel Retail William Ovens said, “We are delighted to introduce the Glengoyne 12 Year Old First Fill Edition.

“It is a new core expression for our most popular single malt, crafted using only first-fill casks, delivering maximum flavour. The release offers a unique proposition for travel retail.

“Tamdhu Gran Reserva hand-selected casks are the best of the best and the pinnacle of sherry cask maturation, appealing to sherry cask whisky connoisseurs.

“Gran Reserva is becoming one of the most iconic and sought-after expressions in our travel retail line-up.”

Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky is produced using unpeated malted barley and a slow distillation process based on a recipe dating back nearly 200 years.

The distillery matures its spirit in sherry oak casks, which contribute to its characteristically sweet and fruity profile.

Tamdhu is an artisanal Scotch malt whisky produced using spring water sourced from the distillery’s location on the River Spey. The whisky is matured exclusively in sherry-seasoned casks prepared in Jerez, Spain.

Since its launch in global travel retail in 2018, Tamdhu has focused solely on sherry cask maturation.

The Moodie Davitt Report recently announced the results of the inaugural TREX Awards. “Differentiation is key to creating real value in and consumer curiosity about travel retail. True TREXs do that, offering products of real value that by definition cannot be procured elsewhere,” said The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie. Nominations for the second TREX Awards will be called for later this year.
