Mapping Asia one cup at a time, Cathay Pacific takes travellers on a journey through the region’s diverse coffee cultures

ASIA. Today’s images from Cathay Pacific celebrate Asia’s vibrant coffee scene, bringing to life the distinctive flavours, rituals and stories behind coffee cultures across six destinations featured in the airline’s Asia Coffee Guide.

Adding a sweet note to Bangkok’s coffee and tea journey, the host samples the famous Thai milk tea

Created in collaboration with creative production company Anydoko Studios, the 18-minute documentary takes viewers on a journey through the region’s coffee landscapes, showcasing the people, places and traditions that shape each destination’s café culture.

The documentary expands on the successful editorial feature previously published in Cathay Pacific’s print magazine and online platform Inspiration, transforming the story into a premium long-form visual experience for travellers and coffee enthusiasts.

A landmark of Ho Chi Minh City’s coffee scene, The Cafe Apartment is among the popular destinations captured in Cathay Pacific’s documentary. Above is an image of Ho Chi Minh City’s dynamic skyline.

The film joins Cathay Pacific’s Gateway to Asia series, a collection of travel inspiration content celebrating destinations and experiences across the region.

The host visits a classic Hong Kong cha chaan teng, a cherished part of the city’s culinary heritage, to uncover the art behind its famous milk tea

Filmed across seven cities, the 18-minute documentary brings Asia’s coffee cultures to life through local stories and traditions, from Singaporean kopi and Vietnamese egg coffee to Shenzhen’s innovative rice-wine-infused latte.

Seoul’s hip coffee culture comes to life at the featured café, where visitors can experience Korea’s favourite iced Americano in a stylish space combining coffee and vinyl culture

The documentary features Cathay’s in-house presenters and local baristas sharing the stories behind Asia’s unique coffee creations.

Bangkok’s Gafae Yen iced coffee is among the regional favourites featured in the documentary, revealing another unique expression of Asia’s rich coffee culture

Bangkok’s vibrant street food culture is highlighted in the documentary, with coffee and tea serving as an essential part of the city’s everyday culinary experience

Anydoko Studios Creative Director Vikash Autar added: “When Cathay approached us about exploring coffee in Asia, we immediately saw the potential for a larger story. The initial conversation was around a shorter piece of content, but we knew these stories deserved a longer, more immersive format.

From traditional kopitiams to evolving café scenes, Singapore’s vibrant coffee culture is explored in the documentary  

“Cathay was fully onboard with creating something more in-depth. It also allowed us to work closely with Cathay’s own on-screen talent, helping to prepare them for a longer documentary format as we travelled across seven cities to capture the essence of each destination.”
