Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

The travel retail-exclusive The Kogei Collection is showcased via a display inspired by Japanese architecture

UK. Today’s images come from Heathrow Airport where The House of Suntory, flagship brand of Japanese drinks company Suntory Global Spirits, is highlighting the travel retail-exclusive Kogei Collection with a high-profile promotion.

Located in the World Duty Free store in Terminal 5, the promotion is a collaboration between Suntory Global Spirits and Avolta (World Duty Free) and offers travellers an interactive experience centred around the craftsmanship of Japanese whisky.

The Kogei Collection Japanese Kimono Edition was the subject of the latest Moodie Davitt Spotlight Series eZine. It is the first global travel retail-exclusive range from Suntory Whisky and its first exclusive range outside of Japan.

The Kogei Collection Japanese Kimono Edition takes its name from Kogei, a celebration of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

The exclusive collection includes two expressions – the Yamazaki and Hakushu whiskies – both made with malted barley and finished in Spanish oak casks.

Distilled at The House of Suntory’s Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, the whiskies highlight the brand’s dedication to quality, showcasing distinct flavour profiles and reflecting the distinctive terroir of each distillery.

An interactive nosing experience teaches travellers about the colour, aroma, flavour and finish of the The Kogei Collection
A small video showcases the distiller’s partnership with the Chiso Kimono House

The Kogei Collection is the result of an artful collaboration with Chiso Kimono House, whose designs inspired the packaging of both whiskies. The collaboration brings together the parallel worlds of whisky and kimono-making, showing the shared values and heritage of the two prestigious Japanese houses.

The Heathrow activation cleverly brings this ‘artful partnership’ to life with interactive multi-media elements. Travellers can also nose different Japanese ingredients to gain a better understanding of how the Yamazaki and Hakushu whiskies were made.

This multi-sensorial experience not only introduces a channel-exclusive collection to travellers at Heathrow but also deepens their appreciation for the craftsmanship behind it.
