Images of the Day: Vino Volo airport wine concept spreads its wings

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Strange Nature Gin from New Zealand, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

CHINA. Today’s striking images come courtesy of Lagardère Travel Retail, which has opened the first Vino Volo wine bar and retail store outside North America at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.

Luxury look: Vino Volo appears for the first time at a Chinese airport, 20 years on from its founding in the US

The acclaimed airport concept, which was created in 2004 and acquired by Lagardère Travel Retail in 2018 (as part of its Hojeij Branded Foods acquisition), offers a high-end airport wine and food experience.

Commenting on LinkedIn, Lagardère Travel Retail said that the food menu “invites passengers to savour both international classics and local delights, and our friendly expert staff provides quality guidance. With approximately 100 different types of wine and Champagne, whether to take away or enjoy a full table service experience, Vino Volo is the perfect stop to sip, relax, and enjoy.” ‍
