‘Immersive Discovery’ – Lotte Duty Free unveils renovated and expanded Chanel Beauty offer in Myeong-dong

Across fragrance, skincare and makeup, Chanel is an anchor brand for Lotte Duty Free. Now it enjoys a much-enhanced presence

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free this week unveiled a new-look, much-expanded Chanel Beauty offer at the retailer’s flagship Myeong-dong, Seoul store.

In partnership with the great French fragrances & cosmetics house, Lotte Duty Free reopened the main Chanel Beauty boutique under the ‘Immersive Discovery’ theming to enhance the travel retail shopping experience.

The store is designed to allow customers to experience Chanel’s world view of fragrances, skincare and makeup in a more immersive way.

The consumer proposition has been expanded by adding a satellite boutique alongside the existing main store.

The most significant feature of this renovation is the introduction of Chanel’s high-end fragrance collection, Les Exclusifs de Chanel for the first time at a South Korean downtown duty-free shop.

Les Exclusifs de Chanel is a multi-SKU premium fragrance line that reinterprets Chanel’s creative spirit and heritage through scent, and is sold in limited quantities at select stores.

It is also available at Lotte Duty Free’s Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 main beauty store.

“As the Les Exclusifs collection has recently garnered significant interest, particularly among Chinese customers, it is expected to contribute to strengthening Lotte Duty Free’s differentiated merchandising competitiveness,” the retailer said.

The existing main store operates as a premium beauty destination where customers can experience the entire range of fragrances, skincare, and makeup in a single space. Customers can try out Chanel’s diverse products and experience the brand’s beauty philosophy and knowhow.

The newly established satellite store is centered around Chanel’s signature fragrance No. 5, the luxury skincare line Sublimage and Les Exclusifs de Chanel.

The Les Exclusifs collection is gaining increasing traction among Chinese travellers

Customers can enjoy the special experience of discovering their own unique scent with Les Exclusifs de Chanel, a concept inspired by the story of company Founder Gabrielle Chanel and the brand’s heritage.

Additionally, through ‘The Moment,’ a service programme for duty-free customers provided by professional beauty consultants, the store offers a differentiated luxury beauty experience for VIP customers and other travellers.

Sales of cosmetics and fragrances soar

As demand for premium beauty brands continues to rise, Lotte Duty Free’s cosmetics and perfume categories are maintaining a growth trajectory, the retailer said.

Notably, cumulative sales of cosmetics and perfumes at Lotte Duty Free’s Myeong-dong flagship increased by approximately +46% year-on-year from January to May.

The retailer said it plans to further solidify the competitiveness of these categories by strengthening its high-end beauty line-up and providing further differentiated services.

“The renovation of the Chanel store was designed to offer global customers an even more differentiated luxury beauty shopping experience,” commented Lotte Duty Free Head of Merchandise Lee Jung-min.

“We will continue to expand collaborations with premium brands to provide special shopping experiences to customers visiting the Myeong-dong main store.
