UK. Imperial Tobacco has unveiled a new super-premium range of Davidoff cigarettes developed in partnership with a young French designer.
Launched this month, Davidoff Black & White uses a special filter that is longer than most other cigarettes and provides a fuller, richer flavour, according to the tobacco giant.
The new range, available in black- and white-coloured octagonal packs, was the idea of French designer Ora-Ito (www.ora-ito.com), who has designed special products for companies such as Louis Vuitton and Heineken.
Imperial Tobacco International Trade Marketing Manager Global Duty Free Mark Robinson said key airports for the Black & White launch would include London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Munich, Moscow, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei, Dubai, Athens and Istanbul.
The Black version is described as a rich full-flavour cigarette, while the White is for those who prefer a lighter, smoother taste.
Davidoff Black & White is composed of smooth Virginia, spicy Oriental and delicate white Burley.
A Jumbo Pack for duty free will be available containing 10 packs (200 cigarettes). The range will be unveiled at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes next month (Stand number: Red Village M38).
A full communications campaign will support the launch, and POS materials will include a freestanding unit, a glossy black and white shopping bag, a sampling pack and a brochure entitled “Luxury Starts Here”.
“Davidoff Black & White is an exciting launch for Davidoff cigarettes – a unique fusion of Zino Davidoff’s vision of quality and Ora-Ito’s design perspective. The packs are stunning and truly represent the future of luxury cigarette smoking,” said Robinson. “Davidoff cigarettes are Imperial Tobacco’s focus in global duty free and this new launch represents a further expansion of this luxury cigarette brand which we feel is so well suited to the travel retail environment.”
