SOUTH KOREA/JAPAN. Incheon International Airport Corp (IIAC) and JTB Corp, Japan’s biggest tour operator, have teamed up in a marketing drive to encourage Japanese passengers to travel to Europe via Incheon. And the campaign could benefit the airport’s duty free business.
The first promotion targeted passengers on the Tokyo-Narita-Incheon-Munich route in July, with incentives that included duty free shopping vouchers and souvenirs. This promotion is being held each Sunday, when transfer passengers led by JTB are welcomed by officials at Incheon. The inaugural promotion is pictured below.
“This joint promotion has a great significance to Incheon International Airport as we are striving to attract transfer passengers to IIAC,” said IIAC Airline Marketing Team Acting General Manager Hyung Shin Kim.
“We offer various incentives to passengers who participate in this programme. Incentives include souvenirs, photographs, ceremonies and discount coupons for the participants to enjoy the shopping experience during transfer at the duty free shops. We will also make joint advertisements with tour operators. In addition, we plan to establish more joint promotion activities with other tour operators in China, North America, Europe and other continents. We hope that this will generate more transfer traffic to IIAC.”
