SOUTH KOREA. Incheon International Airport’s Airstar Avenue duty free shopping brand – comprising outlets operated by Lotte Duty Free, The Shilla Duty Free and the Korea Tourism Organization – will mark the Chinese New Year by offering special discount coupons and prepaid cards to customers from China.
Running from 31 January to 7 February, the promotion will reach out to some of the 80,000 Chinese tourists expected to visit South Korea during the holiday, up +12% on last year.
As part of the event, welcoming in the Year of the Horse, Airstar Avenue will distribute 5-10% discount coupon kits which can be used at duty free shops on 31 January and 1 February. These kits will be available in the Arrivals hall on the second floor of the airport.
It will also hand out KRW200,000 (US$185) prepaid cards to any tourists from China who buy watches worth more than US$3,000 in Departures. These will be offered from 4-7 February.

“To provide [a] pleasant duty free shopping environment to Chinese customers during lunar New Year holidays, we [have] deployed fluent Chinese speaking salespersons, various events and special promotions,” said an Airstar Avenue manager.
Incheon International Airport and Airstar Avenue began the year with their “˜Winter Season Sale Festival’, offering gifts to customers valued at around KRW70 million (US$66,000). It also staged a range of event for travellers.
