FRANCE. Inter Parfums SA and Van Cleef & Arpels have signed a 12-year worldwide license agreement to manufacture and distribute fragrances and related products under the Van Cleef & Arpels brand name.
The license was formerly held by YSL Beauté. That collaboration will formally come to an end in January 2007.
To guarantee the continuity of the Van Cleef & Arpels fragrances, Inter Parfums and YSL Beauté have signed an agreement to ensure an “optimal transition” regarding retail distribution and advertising expenditure.
Van Cleef & Arpels Chairman Stanislas de Quercize commented: “30 years ago in 1976, Van Cleef & Arpels was a pioneer among jewellers with its launch of a fragrance that exemplified the tradition of boldness of the jewellery house, First.
“This initial success was followed by successive fragrance launches with YSL Beauté. In 2006 this agreement with Inter Parfums opens the way for new creative and bold successes.”
YSL Beauté Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chantal Roos noted: “This agreement is fully in line with the group’s new strategy of focusing efforts and resources on its priority brands that include that of the jeweller Boucheron of the Gucci Group. It will also contribute to optimising YSL Beauté’s industrial assets.”
Inter Parfums SA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Philippe Benacin added: “This agreement with Van Cleef & Arpels, the prestigious and legendary world-renowned jewellery designer, is an important step in the company’s development. Its growth potential in fragrances will strengthen opportunities for expansion in the high luxury segment.”
He cited Jacques Arpels remark that “˜the mission of the jewellery house is to offer the very best”˜. Benacin concluded: “We will rigorously apply this strategy in our own creative and design processes and choice of materials in a manner that respects the powerful values of luxury, happiness, love and serenity conveyed by the brand.”
