INTERNATIONAL. Shifting traveller expectations about the airport journey, and the implications for our sector, represent the central theme of a new video & podcast interview in partnership with Airport Dimensions, published today.
The company’s recent Airport Experience Study (AX26), now in its 12th year, uncovers insights into how passengers think, feel and behave at every stage of their airport journey. Airport Dimensions surveyed over 11,000 travellers in 17 markets for the study.
In the interview (click on the video or podcast icon below), Airport Dimensions Chief Growth Officer Chris Gwilliam speaks to The Moodie Davitt Report President Dermot Davitt about the key findings, including how passenger satisfaction is rising on average worldwide, but so too are expectations and demands from consumers.
Gwilliam also homes in on the key topic of how the airport eco-system delivers connected, seamless and joined-up journeys, and how this can become a competitive advantage.

Travellers are also more focused than ever before on premium experiences at the airport, according to the research, which also presents positive news on the appetite and outlook for retail in particular.
Demand for lounge use continues to rise, with many travellers interested in trading up within the tiered lounge offer.

Crucially, Millennials and Gen Z are not only more digitally engaged than other groups but are willing to spend more on experiences and premium services.
