“I feel very fortunate that I am able to continue my career with Nuance in Australia as Nuance is a great company and it is poised to enter an exciting new phase of growth and development“ |

AUSTRALIA Ivo Favotto, The Nuance Group’s Executive Vice President Strategy & Business Development, is to return to his native Australia to become Director – Sydney Airport for the company.
Effective 1 October, Favotto will replace David Odgers who left the company recently to take up a Director role with eBay Australia.
Favotto will run Nuance’s acclaimed new duty and tax free store at Sydney Airport’s impressively revamped International Terminal, which was completed earlier this year and became the subject of a major special edition by The Moodie Report (click on the cover image below to download the full report free of charge).
He will also have Australia-wide responsibilities for store development and government relations, which fits in neatly with his role over the past three-and-a-half years in his Zürich, Switzerland-based role, Favotto told The Moodie Report.
“After 3.5 wonderful years in Zürich with Nuance looking after its global Strategy and Business Development functions, it is time to go home from a family perspective,” he said.
“I feel very fortunate that I am able to continue my career with Nuance in Australia, as Nuance is a great company and it is poised to enter an exciting new phase of growth and development.
“Moreover, I am really looking forward to the challenging of running our Sydney operations and contributing more broadly to our Australian business. It’s a great airport and we have invested heavily in delivering a new, state-of-the-art 4,000sq m walk-through store – the biggest of its kind anywhere in the airport world.
“Sydney Airport has always been close to my heart – I have been involved with Sydney Airport on and off, in one way or another, since 1992 – and I hope that I can make an on-going contribution in this new role.”
COMMENT: Sydney Airport is one of Nuance’s biggest single airport concessions worldwide and considered a flagship for the group. The location is also critical to the performance of Nuance’s Australian operation, representing around half of its turnover.
Favotto’s experience with Nuance – together with his previous experience as an airport executive in Australia and as an industry advisor on diverse matters including retail planning, retail benchmarking, airport planning and privatisation, business development and strategy – give him a broad global perspective and a unique insight into travel retailing best practice around the world.
This is therefore a key appointment for Nuance and should augur well for the company’s continued ambitions in the region.
