UK. World Duty Free (WDF) Head of Liquor and Tax Free James Prescott is leaving the company. He will join Whyte & Mackay on October 1, replacing Director Travel Retail Andy Lane, who has left the Scotch whisky supplier.
Prescott is working a notice period with BAA before joining the drinks company as Global Travel Retail Director. WDF said the process of finding his successor was underway, with an appointment expected by the end of September. Prescott has been with WDF since April 1999.
Whyte & Mackay called the move “a major coup”. Whyte & Mackay International Commercial Director Tony Roberts said: “James’ appointment sends out a clear message that Whyte & Mackay is very serious about the global Travel Retail business and securing someone of his calibre only confirms our ambition for this important market”.
Prescott said: “I am thrilled to be joining Whyte & Mackay and am very much looking forward to helping the company achieve great things in Travel Retail. They have very clear goals for each of their brands and I am delighted that they have chosen me to develop their Travel Retail business at this exciting time”.
Lane told The Moodie Report he was looking to pursue other opportunities in the travel retail market. He left Whyte & Mackay at the beginning of August.
Lane can be contacted at email: andy@lane9.orangehome.co.uk
