JAPAN. JTB Corp will open its first speciality shop in Tokyo in March, exclusively to handle resort destination wedding and honeymoon products in Japan and overseas, according to a report in Travel Journal International.
JTB has already been serving bridal-related customers at its 11 offices in the Japanese capital, but it is the first time that a major travel agency has developed the business in a speciality shop.
Partnering with 278 wedding facilities (30 domestic and 248 abroad), the JTB Wedding Plaza is expected to offer a total consulting service, including air tickets, hotel accommodation, wedding dress try-ons, tour-escort service and party/reception arrangements in Japan upon return from overseas weddings.
JTB is targeting 360 wedding ceremonies and 180 honeymoon couples in fiscal 2008.
