Jeddah Airports issues tenders for 12 convenience retail stores

SAUDI ARABIA. Jeddah Airports has issued a tender for 12 convenience stores across terminals 1 and 4 at King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA), with a deadline of 17 December.

The convenience retail units (known as ‘Baqala’ locally), span 1,000sq m of space in total, across two packages.

The airport company stated: “Following the completion of F&B, retail and duty-free segments, and with the transportation sector (including parking) nearing completion, KAIA is now launching another exciting business opportunity.”

The 12 outlets across the airport will complement the impressive, recently completed Jeddah Duty Free environment

Package A comprises the following outlets across 455sq m:

  1. Terminal 1 – Check-In Zone A – Gates B – 103sq m [DA3-06B]
  2. Terminal 1 – Domestic Departures – Zone H-B – 38sq m [DA-09C]
  3. Terminal 1 – International Departures – Zone E– 40sq m [POD-49]
  4. Terminal 1 – International Departures – Zone F – 40sq m [POD-71] (From November 2026)
  5. Terminal 1 – Arrivals – 82sq m [T-01]
  6. Terminal 4 – International Departures – 152sq m [Location No.162]

Package B across 550sq m includes:

  1. Terminal 1 – Check-In Zone A – Gates D – 66sq m [DA3-04C]
  2. Terminal 1 – Domestic Departures – Zone H-C – 147sq m [DA-18F]
  3. Terminal 1 – International Departures – Zone G – 59sq m [POD-78] (From November 2026)
  4. Terminal 1 – International Departures – Zone D – 65sq m [POD-32] (From November 2026)
  5. Terminal 4 – Check-In – 82sq m [Location No.52-29]
  6. Terminal 4 – Arrivals– 131sq m [Location No.100-13]

Jeddah Airports added: “This tender seeks to appoint a partner capable of operating a store that delivers exceptional service, a diverse product range, and a seamless shopping experience for passengers and airport staff alike.”

The offer should feature travel essentials, snacks, beverages, personal care items and other necessity-based products, presented in an attractive and efficient layout, said the company.

“The goal is to create a retail environment that reflects KAIA’s commitment to quality, reliability and customer satisfaction, while maintaining its cultural identity and creating a sense of place. By combining operational excellence with strong retail expertise, we aim to position KAIA as a benchmark for airport convenience retail, ensuring passengers enjoy speed, accessibility, and comfort at every stage of their journey.”

Jeddah Airports noted that it expects strong competition for its latest concessions between world-class global players and strong vendors from the local market.
