Chloé has unveiled Mediterranean Essences, a new fragrance line under its Atelier des Fleurs collection.
Launched in global travel retail on 1 March, Mediterranean Essences draws on the House’s deep-rooted connection to the landscapes and spirit of the South of France.
The fragrance line was inspired by Founder Gaby Aghion’s formative experiences along the Mediterranean coast, particularly in Ramatuelle, where she spent time with the late Karl Lagerfeld (formerly Creative Director of Chanel). The launch reflects Chloé’s continued emphasis on instinctive, free-spirited creativity, a philosophy that has defined the brand since its inception in 1952.
Mediterranean Essences translates the region’s natural textures, colours and light into olfactory form. The scents evoke elements such as sun-warmed sand, coastal vegetation, wild garrigues (lowland shrubs typically found in the region) and pine forests delivering what the House describes as a “naturalist, sensual portrait” of the Mediterranean.

Each creation explores lesser-known facets of familiar ingredients, aligning with Atelier des Fleurs’ approach to focusing singular botanicals. The scents make subtle references to Chloé’s signature plissé soleil (a delicate pleating technique).
The collection comprises four fragrances: Sable Lavande, Vert Soleil, Plage du Figuier and Plage du Figuier.
Created by Perfumer Quentin Bisch, Sable Lavande reinterprets lavender through a warm, soft lens. The composition blends a solar fig accord with Ambrofix to deliver a textured contrast.
Vert Soleil, also by Bisch, spotlights lentisque (mastic), a rarely explored Mediterranean shrub. Paired with green mandarin, the fragrance balances leafy freshness with zest, underpinned by a musky, woody base.
Created by Perfumer Ane Ayo, Plage du Figuier reimagines fig in a luminous, floral expression enhanced by orange blossom. Inspired by Gaby Aghion’s attachment to Ramatuelle, Saint-Tropez and its surroundings, the fragrance captures the spirit a local beach: Plage du Figuier.
Sous Les Pines, crafted by Bisch, takes inspiration from Porquerolles (an island in the Mediterranean). Pine, eucalyptus and resinous notes combine to evoke the atmosphere of sunlit woodland paths in Porquerolles.
The collection is housed in fluted glass flacons that feature the brand’s plissé soleil motif, while a warm green hue nods to Mediterranean flora. Textured caps are inspired by sand, reinforcing the collection’s connection to the region’s beaches. ✈
