John Karanikolas: “An exciting opportunity for a role that is much more diverse than just leasing” |
AUSTRALIA. Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) has appointed John Karanikolas as Retail Services Coordinator.
His role will involve coordinating retail services for both T1 international and T2 domestic terminals, including foreign exchange, internal and external advertising, essential services such as ATM machines and assisting with food & beverage. He will report to Chris Glastras, Manager of Retail Services, Leasing & Contracts.
Karanikolas’ experience in property management has been across a number of areas including commercial, industrial and retail. His most recent position was Leasing Executive for the Westfield group. Prior to that, he worked in Retail Leasing and Property Management for Railcorp NSW.
Karanikolas commented: “I see this new position at Sydney Airport as an exciting opportunity for a role that is much more diverse than just leasing. It will involve relationship management with objectives and hurdles.
“I’m looking forward to interacting and working with the retailers at T1 and T2 to realise our objectives and working in a really vibrant environment. The redevelopment of the T1 terminal will be very important to the airport over the next few years and I’m excited about the involvement of retail services,” he said.
Sydney Airport’s T1 International and T2 Domestic (from where Virgin and Jetstar depart) terminal shopping precincts offer over 150 specialty retail and service outlets including exclusive designer label stores, gift shops, music stores, eateries and bars.
The announcement represents SACL’s second retail posting in recent weeks. In October it appointed Derek Larsen to the key post of General Manager, Retail. His role includes overseeing the retail precincts of the T1 international and T2 domestic terminals as well as the delivery of the retail component for the new T1 Departures project.
