Jurlique steps up travel retail focus – 24/06/04

AUSTRALIA. Organic beauty brand Jurlique continues to advance in travel retail, in conjunction with its worldwide duty free agent Escale Group. New listings, better customer communication and the first travel retail exclusives are set to further strengthen its presence in the channel as the year progresses.

“We see travel retail as a huge opportunity,” Jurlique CEO Martin Green told The Moodie Report at last month’s TFWA Asia Pacific show. “Our products provide the perfect fit, as education becomes more important in the travel environment. Everyone wants to know how to travel safely and what they consume inside and outside their bodies is a key factor,” added Director Retail & Human Resources Thora Klein-Gibaud.

Earlier this year Jurlique obtained its first inflight listings, onboard Cathay Pacific and Dragonair. The products carried are a Lavender Hand Cream duo, and a Herbal Recovery Gel/Pure Rosewater presentation, described by the company as ideal entry level/introductory products.

US and South American carriers are the next key targets within the inflight sector.

On the ground, from this month Jurlique will be sold in Macau airport, and on the Lo-Wu border operation. “We are also targeting other selected international airports both in and outside Asia,” commented Green.

Meanwhile, at Hong Kong International airport, Jurlique’s profile – and sales – continue to climb. Last month the brand became the exclusive spa supplier within Temptation, Nuance-Watson (HK)’s specialist beauty operation. And the company has also implemented a special spa programme for cabin crew, whereby they are eligible for a free treatment with the purchase of any Jurlique item.

In terms of product, the company is working on creating its first travel retail exclusive sets. These will be previewed at this October’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes.
