Kavalan partners with SipWell Brands to accelerate UK travel retail growth

The partnership taps into growing global demand for premium whiskies from emerging regions, as travellers increasingly seek distinctive, discovery-led propositions

Taiwanese single malt whisky house Kavalan Distillery, owned by King Car Group, has appointed SipWell Brands as its strategic partner for UK travel retail.

SipWell Brands will lead Kavalan’s development in the channel, with a focus on optimising route-to-market execution and enhancing visibility across major airports.

The partnership is in line with Kavalan’s broader global expansion strategy of collaborating with specialist partners. The goal is to build premium positioning in key markets through selective distribution and curated brand experiences.

The partnership reflects growing consumer interest in premium whiskies from emerging regions, particularly in travel retail.

Kavalan is known for subtropical maturation and extensive cask portfolio. Its distinctive house style characterised by pronounced tropical fruit notes and layered complexity.

Founded in 2005 in Yilan County, Taiwan, Kavalan has established itself as a one of the most dynamic names within the world whisky category.

In 2025, Kavalan was ranked 12th in the IWSC Top 50 Spirits Producers list and named Worldwide Whisky Producer of the Year at the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) for the sixth time.

It also secured a triple win at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWC), taking ‘Whisky of the Year’, ‘Distillery of the Year’ and ‘Master Distiller of the Year’, with its Solist Fino Sherry Cask expression achieving a score of 97.04.

Most recently, Kavalan was named Distiller of the Year at the 2026 World Whiskies Awards, underlining its continued consistency and standing within the global premium spirits landscape.
