Kreol Travel Retail and Cochin Duty Free kick off festive FIFA-related promotion

INDIA. Kreol Travel Retail and Cochin Duty Free (in which Kreol is a joint-venture partner with Dufry Group) have launched sales of FIFA-licensed products at Cochin International Airport.

A promotional programme celebrates the run-up to the festive season with a salute to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which kicked off in Qatar on Sunday.

It is the first World Cup to be hosted in the Middle East. According to Kreol Travel Retail, the event offers a “wonderful opportunity for the region to welcome and connect with billions of people from across the globe, building new bridges of understanding”.

The company noted that thousands of fans from the Indian expatriate community recently staged a celebratory rally in Doha, marching to the World Cup countdown clock by the waterfront. The fans were mainly from the Indian state of Kerala, where football events run all year round.

Competing fan groups have erected giant cut-outs of football stars like Lionel Messi, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo in the middle of a river in Kerala’s Kozhikode district.

Kreol Group CEO Lal Arakulath said: “Kreol Travel Retail is facilitating this outpouring of affection for the game by making FIFA-licensed merchandise available for purchase at Cochin Airport’s duty free outlets.”

*As reported, The Moodie Davitt Report readers’ competition dedicated to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is now open, offering a combination of solo and team efforts.

The competition, open to anyone involved in the aviation and travel retail sectors (mandatory), is based on match predictions for the 32 teams in a group stage and knockout format. It began on Sunday 20 November and will conclude on 18 December with the World Cup Final at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

The rules are simple. Qualified readers simply need to make a score prediction in each of the matches, and will be awarded points based on the accuracy of their predictions. You will receive 3 points for an exact score prediction and 1 point if you predict the right result (win or draw) without getting the score correct. It’s simple, fun and all for a great cause.

You can sign up here. Just create an account and you can immediately begin saving your score predictions.

You can also enter as a team, by choosing ‘Team’ as your first name when you sign up and entering the name of your team as your surname (For instance ‘Team Moodie Davitt’).

We will be offering prizes for best individual and best team and perhaps some special prizes along the way.
