La Prairie freezes time in its tracks with Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal duo

La Prairie unveiled a new high-end anti-ageing collection at last week’s TFWA Exhibition in Cannes. Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Cream and Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Dry Oil will be launched globally in February 2014.

The inspiration for the line were two seemingly fragile plants and one small algae, which manage to grow and flourish miles high in the Swiss Alps. La Prairie claims to have harnessed their extreme survival secrets to create the patent-pending Swiss Ice Crystal Complex, which transfers the properties of its key ingredients to the skin, allowing it too to become more resilient to the daily extremes of life, such as stress, anxiety, pollution, lack of sleep and travel.

The inspiration, ingredients and source also underline La Prairie’s long-standing Swiss heritage and legacy.

The first key ingredient is Saxifraga Oppositifolia, or Purple Saxifrage, which grows just below the summit of the ice-covered Dom, one of the highest mountains in Switzerland. The second is Soldanella Alpina, which flourishes on the lower mountain slopes in central Switzerland, up to 3,000 meters above sea level. The final component is Swiss Snow Algae, first used in La Prairie’s Cellular Power Collection.

According to the brand, the Swiss Ice Crystal Complex helps skin adjust to skin-ageing stressors, and supports cell renewal, delivering increased hydration and resilience. Furthermore, the DNA-protecting plant power helps skin to protect itself from the visible signs of accelerated ageing, leaving skin looking younger for longer.

La Prairie Director of Innovation Dr Daniel Stangl stated: “I’ve been with the brand since 1993 – through 20 years of ground-breaking, innovative launches – and the new Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal products are among the most exciting products we’ve developed. To be able to capture the youth-protecting properties and adaptive nature of the three survivalist plants – deemed the Swiss Ice Crystal Complex – and combine those with revolutionary technologies of modern skincare is exceptional. In essence, the Swiss Ice Crystal Complex helps skin outwit daily ageing assaults from the environment – an incredible achievement.”

La Prairie Global Brand President Lynne Florio added: “When it comes to the development of new products for La Prairie, no cost is spared, no research left undone, no frontier is left unexplored in our quest for agelessness. Our clients pay a premium for the best in their skincare, and they expect the highest level of performance. We aim to exceed their expectations, and I am confident we have done so with the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal duo.”
