Lagardère Travel Retail introduces digital receipts across UK & Ireland estate

UK & IRELAND. Lagardère Travel Retail UK & Ireland has launched the use of digital receipts across its 21 stores in eight airports and eight ferries. The new service is being delivered in partnership with ReceiptHero, as the retailer seeks to remove paper receipts from its carbon footprint.

Customers can now receive digital receipts in real-time from the point of purchase in the ReceiptHero app, which is available for both iOS and Android.

These digital receipts can be received throughout Lagardère Travel Retail stores including Aelia Duty Free, Discover, the LEGO Store and Tommy Hilfiger.

The digital receipt initiative is not only eco-friendly, it also provides a new marketing channel for Lagardère Travel Retail

Lagardère Travel Retail noted that as well as providing an eco-friendly cost saving alternative for retailers, digital receipts also serve as an effective marketing channel and are a tool towards customer loyalty.

Lagardère Travel Retail UK & Ireland Commercial Business Director Liam Grundy said: “Lagardère Travel Retail is committed to playing a leading role in the sustainable transition of the travel retail industry. ReceiptHero allows us to support our PEPS strategy, our roadmap to creating a more sustainable future, by further reducing the environmental impact of our operations.

“At the same time, it provides the added benefit of simplifying the checkout process for our customers, providing them with a smooth innovative checkout experience.”

Implementing digital receipts allows Lagardère Travel Retail UK & Ireland to take a big step towards its CSR goals and targets, the company noted. These include global carbon neutrality by the end of 2023, and reaching net zero emissions ahead of 2050.

ReceiptHero’s mission is to transform 700 billion transactions into meaningful interactions, and Lagardère Travel Retail described the company as “a fantastic partner to work with”.

ReceiptHero Director of International Business Chris Moore said: “We’re really grateful for the opportunity to work with the UK team at Lagardère Travel Retail, we’re talking about a global organisation with thousands of sites across Europe. The UK team reacted quickly to turn this into reality, we’re aligned on how we can enable a better checkout experience for their business and leisure travellers.”

A customer receiving a digital receipt from a purchase at one of Lagardère’s stores will be able to use it for full refunds and product exchanges. Customers can also send feedback from their experience in-store and receive promotional offers for future purchases, utilising ReceiptHero’s loyalty capabilities.
