Loch Lomond Group has today launched the travel retail-exclusive Remarkable Stills Collection featuring four non-chill filtered expressions: Origins, Alchemy, Ingenuity 13 Year Old and Copper.
The independent distiller noted: “The whiskies are produced with spirit drawn from a variety of stills at precise moments and matured in unusual oak casks from across the globe, offering a diverse range of flavour profiles.
“Master Blender Michael Henry has curated this collection, leveraging the capabilities of Loch Lomond’s remarkable stills.”
Loch Lomond uses both straight neck and traditional swan neck stills to distil its whiskies. The straight neck stills allow greater control of distillation, which intensifies the lighter, fruitier character of the spirit.
The distiller employs still head cooling when the spirit comes off the still, as well as a long fermentation process to impart the whiskies’ distinctive flavours.
Remarkable Origins captures Loch Lomond’s signature style with citrus and orchard fruit notes, finished in American oak casks. Presented in a 1-litre bottle, it has an ABV of 46.1%.
Remarkable Alchemy has an ABV of 46.8% and is finished in Colombian oak casks. Also available in a 1-litre bottle, the whisky combines citrus and orchard fruit notes with a smoky flavour.
Remarkable Ingenuity 13 Year Old (47.3% ABV) combines spirit drawn from both straight neck and swan neck stills and is finished in Swedish oak casks. Also available in a 1-litre bottle, the single malt offers the distillery’s style but adds a layer from the finish with a peppery and nutmeg influence.
According to Loch Lomond Group, Remarkable Copper is the pinnacle of the collection. It is created from liquid distilled in both straight neck and swan neck stills, using Loch Lomond’s full distillation capability.
Matured in ex-bourbon casks, the single malt offers flavours of tropical fruit and vanilla syrup. At 48.1% ABV, the whisky comes in a 70cl bottle with a branded coin and bespoke ridged box.
