L’Oréal Travel Retail chief Vincent Boinay to join group Executive Committee

L’Oréal General Manager for Travel Retail Vincent Boinay: Move to join the Executive Committee reflects the “dynamic driver” that the channel represents for the beauty house.

L’Oréal General Manager for Travel Retail Worldwide Vincent Boinay will join the group’s Executive Committee, effective from 1 September. The move is a major statement about the importance of travel retail to the beauty group.

L’Oréal Group said: “Travel retail is one of the most dynamic drivers of L’Oréal’s business. The remarkable growth in the number of travellers coupled with the rise of middle classes and democratisation of travel, combined with the emergence of shopping centres in airports, cruise ships, and duty free shops in cities, have made travel retail a very significant player in the beauty industry.”

Boinay was named to his current role in 2014. He joined L’Oréal Luxe in 1992 and held several positions within travel retail before being appointed Director International Development for Lancôme in 2000, and in 2004 General Manager for Biotherm/Cacharel in France.

In 2007, he was named Vice President in charge of L’Oréal Luxe in Japan. In 2012, he became General Manager International Retail L’Oréal Luxe and headed the Retail Excellence worldwide programme.

Boinay told The Moodie Davitt Report today: “This nomination is recognition of the travel retail industry and also the recognition of the talented teams (of today and yesterday) of L’Oréal Travel Retail around the world.”

In related moves, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer and Executive Vice President of the Fondation L’Oréal Alexandra Palt also joins the Executive Committee.

Of Palt’s appointment, the group noted: “The decision to position this strategic function within the Executive Committee reinforces L’Oréal’s ambition to be both a business and environmental societal leader. Under Alexandra Palt’s leadership, L’Oréal has become one of the top recognised companies in the world in terms of sustainable development.”

L’Oréal China President Fabrice Megarbane joined L’Oréal’s Executive Committee on 1 July. He succeeds Stéphane Rinderknech who will take on a new role and responsibilities within L’Oréal.
