Lotte Duty Free advances omnichannel payment strategy with LINE Pay Taiwan launch

K-pop superstars aespa feature in Lotte Duty Free’s latest LINE Pay Taiwan campaign, promoting seamless shopping convenience

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has rolled out the Line Pay Taiwan online payment service, becoming the first Korean travel retailer to integrate the platform across both online and offline channels to capture the growing Taiwanese tourist market.

Used by more than half of Taiwan’s population, Line Pay has grown into one of the island’s most widely used financial platforms, combining payment services with merchant information, promotional offers and financial content.

The initiative completes Lotte Duty Free’s omnichannel payment ecosystem for Taiwanese travellers, following the rollout of Line Pay Taiwan services across all offline stores in Korea in July 2025.

Lotte Duty Free introduced LINE Pay Taiwan in July 2025 across domestic stores, capturing momentum from rising Taiwanese tourism to South Korea

The move aligns with Lotte Duty Free’s strategy to strengthen engagement with the rapidly growing Taiwanese tourist segment, which delivered the retailer’s fourth-highest sales by market in the first quarter, after China, Korea and Japan. Sales from Taiwanese independent travellers surged +38% year-on-year.

The retailer also noted plans to launch multiple marketing activities in partnership with Line Pay Taiwan, beginning in the second half with phased promotional campaigns targeting users of the online payment service.

The rollout adds to Lotte Duty Free’s existing portfolio of major global mobile payment services, including Alipay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay, further enhancing payment convenience for international customers.

A Lotte Duty Free representative said: “With the introduction of Line Pay Taiwan online services, Taiwanese customers can now enjoy convenient shopping both online and offline at Lotte Duty Free. We will continue to expand tailored payment infrastructure for international customers and provide differentiated services.”
