SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has launched a seasonal marketing campaign to lure shoppers at home and abroad. It comes as China’s National Day Golden Week holiday (1-7 October) overlaps with the 12-day Chuseok festival in South Korea, which starts on 28 September.
The retailer said that 65% of office workers in the country are planning to travel during the Chuseok festival, based on survey findings.
The retailer is also anticipating an increase in the number of inbound visitors from China during the upcoming Golden Week.
The campaign, which runs from September to October, features promotional discounts and a series of events.
The promotional offers include an LDF Pay rewards event and others for domestic and foreign customers.
The retailer will also host a star-studded event called All-Night Party at Lotte World, featuring top DJs and K-pop idols, as well as ten theme-park rides.
The event will highlight special performances by Twice, DJ Yesong and DJ Juncoco on 14 October, while Lee Jun-ho, DJ J.E.B., and DJ Vandal Rock will perform on 21 October.
Customers who purchase more than US$800 of goods at the Lotte Duty Free Myeongdong flagship outlet and World Tower branch starting 1 September will be eligible for party tickets. Two tickets per person will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Shoppers who purchase via the Lotte Duty Free website may also win free tickets via a lucky draw.

Applications for tickets for events which star Lee Jun-ho and Twice can be made separately through Lotte Duty Freeʼs online and offline channels. Event details can be found on the retailer’s website and official social media platforms.
To attract more shoppers travelling from Japan, China and Southeast Asia, the retailer is providing a travel package that includes access to concerts and shopping offers.
In addition, Lotte Duty Free will be giving away KRW830,000 (US$622) in LDF Pay in all its branches until 31 October. The value of the LDF Pay, which can be used as cash, will be based on the purchase amount.
To kick off the Chuseok celebrations, the retailer has rolled out early-bird deals for domestic customers, including an additional KRW220,000 (US$165) worth of LDF Pay from 8 to 27 September.
Other promotional offers include lucky draw coupons for a chance to win a tour package to Guam for two. The package includes round-trip airfare and accommodation.
To qualify for this offer, customers must purchase items worth US$250 through Lotte Duty Freeʼs online shops and physical stores.
In addition, shoppers can also avail of up to -50% discounts on selected products from 11 premium beauty brands and up to -45% off jewellery brands such as Misaki and Dana Burton.
Lotte Duty Free is also offering a -30% discount on all Chinese liquor products through its online store until 30 September.
