VIETNAM. Lotte Duty Free has expanded its ‘Love Heart’ International Heart Disease Child Surgery Support Project to Vietnam, where it will fund operations for six children suffering from heart disease.
Now in its seventh year, the project will provide support to the Green Umbrella Child Foundation and Hoan Mi Group, Vietnam’s largest medical corporation.
Lotte Duty Free and Hotel Lotte CEO and Vice President Jang Sun-Wook have pledged to provide full support for the cost of surgery for six Vietnamese children suffering from heart disease, the retailer said in a statement today
Lotte Duty Free made the ‘Love Heart’ donation today (13 October) at an event attended by Kim Joo-nam from the Lotte Duty Free Shop Support Division and Lee Jong Hwa from the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation (pictured).
Since 2012, Lotte Duty Free has worked with the non-profit foundation to provide surgical support for children with heart diseases across Vietnam, Malaysia, and China. By the end of last year, the foundation supported cardiac surgeries for 12 children through the project.
This year, in cooperation with Hoan My Group, the children supported will receive surgery and further treatment at medical facilities in Da Nang, Vietnam.
In addition, Lotte Duty Free continues with its social contribution projects overseas. Since 2010, around 200 employees have participated in the Indonesian Overseas Children Alliance Project, which is being carried out with the NGO Good Neighbours of the International Relief Development NG. The combined donations made by employees and company amount to around KRW200 million ($0.18 million).
The Lotte Duty Free Shop Support Division’s Kim Joo-nam said: “The reason Lotte Duty Free Store was able to grow into the world’s second-largest duty free [operator] is thanks to the love that customers all over the world have given us. We will continue to contribute to our global social [projects] like Love Heart. We are pleased to be able to support more children in the seventh session.”
Meanwhile, Lotte Duty Free is currently expanding its overseas operations by operating six overseas stores in Ginza, Kansai Airport, Guam Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia and Bangkok, including Da Nang Airport in Vietnam.
