Magical Connections: Dubai Airport drives passenger engagement with experiential festive activations

UAE. Dubai International Airport (DXB) has rolled out a programme of holiday-themed installations and activities to engage travellers during the festive season.

Running from 14 December to 10 January, the airport showcases festive décor across its terminals, complemented by roaming performers, interactive workshops, surprise collectibles and digital games, enhancing the passenger experience during the peak travel period.

Themed Magical Connections, the festive experience features:   

The Family Zone at Concourse B combines glowing installations, seasonal décor and decorated Christmas trees with gift-wrapping huts and cosy seating, encouraging travellers to pause, engage and capture shareable moments during their journey. 

The AR Bauble Hunt, Dubai Airport’s flagship winter digital activation, anchors this year’s holiday programme. Travellers in Terminal 3 are invited to embark on an augmented-reality (AR) treasure hunt along a playful, geo-based discovery trail.

Using mobile devices, travellers can locate hidden AR baubles across the terminal, each delivering festive greetings or promotions from partners.

These include seasonal highlights and gifts from Costa, Jack’s Bar & Grill, Pret A Manger, Giraffe, Asian Street Food Kitchen, Hard Rock Cafe and Rock Shop, The Sports Shack, The Noodle House, The Draft House and The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck, DXB Hotel, Pangaia, Fortnum & Mason, Candylicious, Ray-Ban, Emirati District, and Garrett Popcorn.

Lucky travellers can discover rare Golden Baubles, each revealing premium rewards from partners.

Play mini-games on the go is a new digital experience hub at DXB, offering travellers three quick, engaging and festive games.

Games are accessible via QR codes around the terminals or through the DXB Wi-Fi landing page, giving travellers additional chances to collect digital baubles and exclusive partner rewards.

Brands including Lego (operated by Lagardère Travel Retail) engage passengers with festive activations and seasonal giveaways

The Bauble-Making Workshop in T3 offers hands-on festive crafting, from glitter baubles to snowman and reindeer ornaments, providing passengers with personalised souvenirs and an engaging dwell-time activity.

Roaming performers, including the North Pole Gang and festive characters, engage passengers across the concourses with multiple short sets, offering photo moments and live entertainment during peak travel periods.

DXB’s winter huts provide decorative gift wraps, select-day complimentary wrapping and creative DIY stations and festive activities during peak travel periods.
