Maison Marou brings Vietnamese bean-to-bar chocolate to Singapore Changi Airport

Inspired by Singapore’s Supertrees, the open-concept boutique has been designed to immerse travellers in the story of Vietnamese cacao through an engaging retail environment

SINGAPORE. Vietnamese bean-to-bar chocolate specialist Maison Marou has opened a standalone boutique at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1 in partnership with Changi Airport Group.

Located in the Terminal 1 Departure Hall, the Marou Faiseurs de Chocolat store is Maison Marou’s first location outside its home market of Vietnam. The company said the Changi Airport opening represents the first step in a wider international roll-out, with additional overseas locations planned.

Founded in 2011 by Samuel Maruta and Vincent Mourou, Marou Faiseurs de Chocolat is a pioneer in Vietnam’s bean-to-bar chocolate movement. The company has built its reputation on single-origin Vietnamese chocolate, combining French chocolate-making expertise with locally sourced cacao beans and flavours.

The Changi Airport boutique immerses travellers in Vietnamese cacao and chocolate craftsmanship. The store design was inspired by the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay, with red metal frames that resemble tree trunks branching into a canopy above the display area.

The boutique showcases Maison Marou’s core collection alongside a range of travel retail-exclusive (TREX) products created for the Singapore location.

Leading the exclusive range is a collection of three Singapore-inspired single-origin chocolate bars: French Kaya Toast Dark Chocolate 55%, Gula Melaka Dark Chocolate 55% and Kopi & Popped Rice 44% Cacao.

In addition, Maison Marou has launched three Singapore-exclusive chocolates at the Changi location. These are: Pandan and Tropical Fruit Napolitains, Peanut with Chilli and Ginger Nougat Napolitains, and Guava enrobed in 65% dark chocolate.

Maison Marou’s wider portfolio includes single-origin dark chocolate bars made using cacao sourced from six growing regions across southern Vietnam. The company has also developed its Flavours of Vietnam range made with indigenous fruits, nuts and spices.

The chocolatier said it is guided by a philosophy of combining artisan craftsmanship with regional flavours. The brand incorporates eco-friendly packaging featuring traditional manual silk-screen printing techniques.

Over the past 15 years, Maison Marou has received more than 50 international chocolate awards. Among its recent accolades, the brand’s Cà Phê Sữa Chocolate Bar was named Best Chocolate in the World 2025 at the Prix Épicures de l’Épicerie Fine awards.
