Masi Agricola set to highlight special cuvées and organic wines at TFWA World Exhibition

Leading Italian winemaker Masi Agricola is set to showcase its travel retail-exclusive wines at TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (Blue Village F4).

Among the products it will highlight are the Nectar Campofiorin and Nectar Costasera – special cuvées of the two Masi wines Campofiorin and Costasera. These expressions are enhanced with a greater percentage of the Corvina grape, the nectar of Valpolicella, in the blend.

The Nectar Campofiorin will be presented in a refreshed bottle design. The new look for this 2020 vintage will include an enlarged label with the addition of a background that enhances the oval section with the historic cornucopia. The red logo has been selected with a light golden outline.

The Supervenetian is produced through continuously modernised methods of winemaking – late harvest of grapes and an increase in the use of dried grapes to produce a fruity and balanced taste.

Another product in the spotlight is the 2019 vintage of Nectar Costasera. The expression contains a higher percentage of the Corvina grape, which gives the wine a smooth and cherry flavour. Its packaging has been slightly modified to refresh its image while keeping its original concept.

Piergiuseppe Torresani: Building on Masi’s status as a flagship brand for Italian wines

Masi Export and Travel Retail Sales Director Piergiuseppe Torresani said: “Over the last 60 years, Campofiorin has created an authentic category, that of the Super Venetian and has become its undisputed leader; the flagship of Made in Italy.

“The wine is distributed in over 140 countries with a true omnichannel approach: restaurants, hotels, specialised wine shops, large-scale retail trade, online and travel retail.

“Campofiorin is indisputably part of the category of the global icons that enjoy transversal distribution and are must-haves for those who offer them and those who buy them. Products that are at home everywhere for their eclecticism and iconic status.”

Outlining its sustainability goals, Masi will present its two organic, vegan wines Fresco di Masi at the TFWA show. These wines are made from grapes vinified immediately after harvest, unfiltered and without any use of wood ageing, the brand owner noted.

The new 2022 vintage is presented in the signature Masi bottle, which has been developed through a collaboration with international architect and designer Piero Lissoni and design and glass container specialist Verallia.

As reported, the Masi Bottle concept is based on a production ethic of sustainability achieved by creating a lightweight bottle through a ‘virtuous circle’, involving the reduction of raw material needed for production and the consequent decrease in energy required for processing, transport and handling.

The Masi stand will be located next to the other members of the Travel Retail Fine Wine Alliance, a group championing fine wine in travel retail.

In April, the group added Famille Perrin as its sixth member. It joined Masi, Albert Bichot, Cono Sur, González Byass, Symington, and Famille Perrin of Chateauneuf du Pape.

The six wineries will meet for tasting on 3 October at 5:30 pm at Mandala Beach venue on the Croisette. Each will present two of its most prestigious wines. For Masi, the tasting will include Nectar Costasera 2018, plus the Amarone cru Mazzano 2007, a prestigious old vintage from the Cantina Privata Boscaini collection. ✈
