Maui Jim introduces new MauiFlex-enhanced aviator sunglasses

Maui Jim has enhanced the classic aviator sunglass through the use of a proprietary memory metal – MauiFlex – that bends and twists, and remembers its original shape longer than traditional metal frames.

Two new MauiFlex sunglasses, Maliko Gulch and Kahului Harbor, are making their debut in stores this summer.

Named after Maui’s hot spot for downwind paddling, Maliko Gulch is designed to offer “the perfect balance of performance and style”, according to the company. Part of the MauiFlex Collection, this double-bridged aviator with rubber temples comes in Gunmetal with Neutral Grey lenses for bright sunny days or Metallic Gloss Copper with HCL Bronze lenses to improve vision in variable light conditions.

This style with a modified rectangular frame has an adjustable rubber nose bridge and anti-corrosive traditional hinges. In contrast, Kahului Harbor has angular rectangular lenses that fit medium or larger faces.

Kahului Harbor takes its name from the commercial harbour and port for Hawaii’s many cruise ships, and is designed to withstand long days in the sun.

A double-bridged aviator with rubber temples, Kahului Harbor is available in Gunmetal with Neutral Grey lenses for bright sunny days or Metallic Gloss Copper with HCL Bronze lenses.

This style has an adjustable rubber nose bridge and anti-corrosive traditional hinges. Slightly larger than Maliko Gulch, Kahului Harbor has a soft rectangular lens.

Both styles feature Maui Evolution lenses that are said to be light and durable. Designed for everyday activities when precise optics are important, the lenses are impact- and scratch-resistant.

All of Maui Jim’s hi-tech lenses feature nine layers of patented, colour-boosting PolarizedPlus2 lens technology claimed to block 100% of UV rays and 99.9% of glare. On both styles, the lenses have waterproof and oleophobic coatings to shed water and repel smudges.
