Mäurer + Wirtz saddles up with Mustang Jeans – 21/08/06

GERMANY. Mäurer + Wirtz has unveiled the debut twin fragrances from the Mustang jeans brand. They will begin rolling out from mid-September, and will be supported by a strong advertising and PR campaign, according to the company.

The Mustang fashion brand is said to stand for “natural nonchalance, authenticity, aesthetic, confidence in one’s own style and thrilling sex appeal”. Accordingly, the fragrances target individualists living out their independence in an urban jeans look.

The feminine fragrance – coloured pink – opens on notes of pear, red berries, rhubarb and grapefruit, leading to a heart of rose, ylang ylang and sweet pea. The base is a blend of sandalwood, cedar wood, moss and musk.

The blue-coloured Mustang Man scent is described as an unconventional juice. The key top notes include bergamot, lavender, bay leaf and cardamom, complemented by a heart of nutmeg and fresh green notes. The dry down features cedar wood, guaic wood, musk and amber.

Both flacons are shaped like a bulging square, designed to evoke a massive belt buckle, with the Mustang “horse” logo engraved on the front. The top of the cap resembles a jeans button. The outer cartons are coloured a matching pink and blue, respectively.

The Mustang Woman collection comprises a 30ml edp spray, plus 30ml and 50ml edts. The ancillaries are a 75ml deo spray, a 200ml bath and shower gel and a 200ml body lotion.

The men’s fragrance line-up features 30ml and 50ml edt sprays, plus a 50ml after shave lotion. Other items are a 75ml deo stick, a 150ml deo spray and a 200ml shower gel and shampoo.
