MEXICO. Leading airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) has posted passenger traffic growth of +18.4% year-on-year in September, with the figure hitting 1.09 million.
The key location, Cancún Airport, posted healthy growth of +13.5% to 765,103 passengers. Other contributors included Huatulco (+62.6%), Oaxaca (+51.2%), while all of ASUR’s nine airports recorded double-digit growth in the month, except for Tapachula, which posted a decline of -21%.
International traffic climbed by +11.4% to 522,875 passengers, while domestic traffic figures rose by +25.6% to 572,008.
Within the international figures, the dominant location of Cancún Airport posted growth of +11.7% to 495,593.
ASUR is a Mexican airport operator with concessions to operate, maintain and develop the airports of Cancun, Merida, Cozumel, Villahermosa, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Huatulco, Tapachula and Minatitlan in the southeast of Mexico.
