Miami International Airport plans duty paid premium cosmetics RFP

USA. Miami International Airport is expecting to issue a tender for a duty paid premium cosmetics concession within a month, if plans are approved by the mayor’s office.

The new concession would operate from units yet to be built totalling between 650-850sq ft, Airport Concessions Chief Adrian Songer told The Moodie Report.

Songer said that the business terms had been submitted for industry review at a meeting last week. The airport expects to receive comments on terms this week, after which it will launch an RFP within a month, subject to approval from the county of Miami-Dade.

“Respondents will have 45 days to give their submissions, taking us into January, and then the selection process starts,” Songer added.

In its advert for the meeting on 16 October the airport said: “Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be soliciting proposals from experienced companies/individuals interested in entering into a lease and concession agreement for the operation of this concession.

“The purpose of the meeting is to get industry related feedback regarding the proposed concession and to”¦ ensure that the final RFP is attractive and economically feasible.”

Duty Free Americas holds the exclusive duty free concession at Miami International Airport.

The Moodie Report will publish full details of the proposed RFP in due course.
