ITALY. Milan Malpensa Airport has expanded its luxury retail offer by introducing standalone boutiques from Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton. The two maisons’ arrival in Terminal 1 underscores the airport’s growing reputation as “one of Europe’s most attractive airports for luxury brands”.
The new openings bring the number of luxury brands at Malpensa to 22, excluding premium corners and pop-ups within the airport’s Dufry (Avolta) duty-free stores.

Situated in a prominent post-security location, the boutiques offer a refined and immersive brand experience. The airport said the launches further cement its reputation as a luxury shopping destination similar to that of Milan’s famed Quadrilatero della Moda and other leading global fashion districts.
The openings come as luxury sales at the airport continue to climb along with intercontinental air traffic. In the first five months of 2025, sales in the luxury segment grew +18% year-on-year, driven by a rising number of high-spending international travellers. This build on an already strong 2024 performance, which closed with a +21% increase in luxury sales.

Non-EU passengers – particularly from Asia and the Middle East – remain the primary growth drivers, accounting for more than 80% of total luxury sales. Average transaction values have also increased over +9% compared to the same period last year.
Milan Malpensa’s performance reflects a broader retail success story across Società Esercizi Aeroportuali (SEA) Group’s airport network. In 2024, Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate recorded a +15.4% increase in sales and delivered €470 million in revenue.

Global retail sales were up +15.3% and food & beverage rose +16.6%, with per-passenger spend increasing +3.1% in retail and +4.5% in F&B.
SEA Group Chief Commercial Officer Luigi Battuello commented, “With the arrival of Dior and Louis Vuitton, Malpensa cements its status as a global luxury destination and a benchmark for premium airport shopping. The investment by these iconic brands reflects our vision of an increasingly international, modern airport – credible to partners and attentive to the needs of global travellers.” ✈
