COSTA RICA. Morpho Travel Experience has unveiled a remodelled flagship store at Costa Rica’s premier travel hub, Juan Santamaría International Airport. With the new name Rumbo Pura Vida Costa Rica, the store has been transformed with artwork evoking a strong Sense of Place.
The stores offers more than 11,000 gifts including local crafts, textiles, jewellery, coffee, chocolates and souvenirs.
Speciality travel retailer Morpho – which has over 200 stores and restaurants in 11 countries – commissioned four national artists and design agencies to produce artwork for the store that visualises some of the key traits of Costa Rica as a destination.
Its search for talented artists resulted in Erica Zeledón Diseño developing a beautiful mural of the volcanoes of the country; NelaSnow highlighting Costa Rican traditions; Sebastián Ayala recreating the magic of Cost Rica beaches; and Entropia Illustration contributing artwork which captures the beauty and wildlife of Costa Rican forests.
The ‘Pura Vida’ element of the store name is a popular term associated with Costa Rica, and is often used a greeting phrase in the country. Its English translation means ‘pure life’ or ‘simple life’.
A note from Morpho Travel Experience on LinkedIn said: “In search of continuous improvement, we have given ourselves the task of having a clear identity and making the best summary of a country and transforming it into stores that are built with the effort of hundreds of people who work every day in the search for artisans, local talent, development of new products, hiring the best talent and supporting our neighbouring communities impacting in a positive and sustainable way.”
