Motta expands ‘attenza’ concept to new markets – 11/06/08

Motta Internacionál’s attenza concept has been well accepted by customers at Tocumen International Airport

PANAMA. Colón-based Motta Internacionál has reported strong acceptance of its ‘attenza’ store rebranding programme.

Motta Internacionál CEO Erasmo Orillac said that the roll-out of attenza “is going well, on target”. The brand has been well accepted by the travelling public, he added.

The rebranding is bedding down in key travel retail locations, including Panama City Tocumen International Airport. El Salvador is the latest market to adopt the ‘attenza’ signage.

At Nicaragua’s Managua Augusto C. Sandino International Airport rebranding has been overshadowed by a disagreement with the airport authority, Empresa Administradora de Aeropuertos Internácionales (EEAI). “We have a claim to the airport for a space that was won by us in an international bid and has not been given to us,” revealed Orillac.

In the background to the claim is EEAI’s plan to increase the commercial area. “The airport is expanding its retail space, but the increment in flights is not there,” said Orillac.

Managua International Airport reported 458,000 international passengers in 2007, an increase of +8.2% from 2006, and 67,400 national passenger movements, -0.4% down.
