| Meet the new pack: Nestlé’s travel retail strategy focuses on gifting, as reflected in the new packagings to be shown at Cannes | |
SWITZERLAND. New friends are joining the popular Smarties family at the TFWA World Exhibition as Nestlé International Travel Retail (NITR) taps into the area of children’s gifting.
Research has shown the category has among the highest growth potential of any sector in travel retail. NITR will capitalise on this by introducing Smarties Twirling Princesses, new Winnie the Pooh topper viewers, a new Tigger dispenser and an updated Smarties colouring kit design.
In addition, Cannes sees the introduction of a new Fruity Smarties Hanging Bag, Kit Kat Chunky Minis bag and a Nescafé Collection Gift Pack.
Twirling Princesses: Disney’s best-selling characters join the Smarties family in a gift aimed at girls. Four famous princesses – Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella and Belle – feature as figurines, which twirl on top of a 170g tube of Smarties by moving a lever.
Winnie The Pooh & Friends Viewer Topper Collection: The award-winning combination of Smarties and Disney’s Winnie the Pooh and friends develops with the new Topper Collection. A viewer in the topper lets children experience Pooh’s world, by simply pushing a button. Each topper contains 10 pictures linked to each character, all sitting on top of a 170g Smarties tube.
Both items are available in singles or in a multi-four pack.
Tigger Dispenser: Exclusive to travel retail, this mini Smarties dispenser joins the popular Winnie the Pooh version launched last year. Simply pull Tigger or Pooh’s arm down to release a portion of mini Smarties. Each dispenser contains 150g mini Smarties and is refillable with Smarties minis packs.
Smarties Colouring Kit: A new look featuring Winnie the Pooh is being introduced for 2005. Exclusive to travel retail, the pack contains a Winnie the Pooh colouring book and pencil crayons as well as 11 individual boxes of Smarties Minis.
Fruity Smarties Hanging Bag 185g: These chewy, fruity sweets have a twist, as the colour on the outside doesn’t match the flavour on the inside. A fun new line extension of the Smarties brand, the hanging bag format is said to be easily merchandised
Kit Kat Chunky Minis Bag: This bag of bite-sized Chunky bars responds well to the trend in lighter snacks, according to NITR. Each bag contains about 15 individual Kit Kat Chunky Minis (250g).
Kit Kat Radio: Launched at Cannes last year, this pack has been redesigned with a new visual and greater shelf impact to appeal to teens and young adults.
It contains an FM radio, earphones, batteries and four Kit Kat Chunky bars.
All Smarties and Kit Kat products are available worldwide (except the USA) from February 2005.
Nescafé Collection Gift Pack 12x3x50g: This exclusive new travel retail collection contains three Nescafé Ultra Premium soluble coffees, all 100% Arabica, sourced from around the world.
Kenjara, described as light, fine and delicate, is made with East African and Central American Arabica coffee beans; Cap Colombie is rich, velvety and subtle made exclusively from Colombian Arabica beans; and Alta Rica is a deep and exotic blend of the finest Latin American Arabica beans.
The Nescafé Collection Gift Pack is launched worldwide at the TFWA World Exhibition, with availability from February 2005.
