SWITZERLAND. Nicolas Schenk has been appointed Head of Terminal Development at Zurich Airport, marking a return to the Swiss hub following more than six years leading the development of Noida International Airport (NIA) in the Delhi National Capital Region.
Schenk transitions from his role as Chief Development Officer at Noida, where he was responsible for the delivery of the major greenfield airport project in Greater Delhi.
His tenure culminated in the recent inauguration of the airport by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with passenger operations due to commence in the coming months (read our story here).

Reflecting on his time on the Noida project, Schenk described the experience as “a wild ride” that delivered both professional and personal rewards.
“The past seven years, working on the development of NIA, have given me so much,” he said in a post on LinkedIn, thanking colleagues and partners involved in bringing the project to fruition.
Noida International Airport is positioned as a major new gateway designed to relieve congestion at Indira Gandhi International Airport, while boosting regional connectivity and economic growth.

Developed, constructed and set to be operated by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International, the project represents one of the most significant recent infrastructure investments in Indian aviation.
In his new role at Zurich Airport, effective 1 April, Schenk leads terminal development initiatives aimed at reshaping the airport’s infrastructure over the next decade.
He described the position as “an equally exciting and challenging opportunity” to contribute to the long-term evolution of the hub.
Prior to joining the Noida project in 2020, Schenk served for three years as Vice President International Business at Zurich Airport, underlining his longstanding association with the operator. ✈
