Nomad lands at Manchester and Liverpool airports as Travelex expands travel money access

Nomad in motion: Travelex brings travel money services closer through flexible, innovative formats, including at Liverpool Airport

UK. Foreign Exchange specialist Travelex has expanded its Nomad mobile store concept with additional locations at Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon airports.

The unit is located at Manchester Airport’s newly renovated Terminal 2 East, and in the landside departures hall at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Building on its initial roll-out at Zurich Airport in March, the concept delivers a fully equipped in-store experience within a movable pop-up format, enabling strategic relocation to high-traffic passenger areas.

Creating a more dynamic customer touchpoint, the first Nomad unit at Zurich Airport uses a retractable digital screen to display live exchange rates and promotional messaging in a highly visible format

The mobile store is designed for convenience and accessibility, which can be opened and closed within minutes to be securely stored beyond trading hours.

The service offers access to more than 50 foreign currencies on the day of travel, along with the option to collect pre-purchased online orders and a pre-paid Travelex Travel Money Card.

Travelex Managing Director – UK Jacqueline Kelleher said, “Travelex’s Nomad marks an evolution in the retail travel money experience, helping us to serve a greater number of customers more conveniently than ever before.

“Following a successful pilot at Zurich Airport, we’re proud to bring the success of Nomad to both Manchester and Liverpool airports and continue to ensure the nearly 40 million annual passengers have convenient access to travel money.”

Nomad is equipped with a retractable screen displaying exchange rates and promotions to increase visibility. It can also be integrated with other Travelex touchpoints, such as ATMs and fixed stores, to form a semi-permanent store during peak trading.

Manchester Airport Chief Commercial Officer Stephen Turner said, “At Manchester Airport, we’re proud to offer a world-class passenger experience, making innovative use of technology and providing seamless connections between the North and the world.

“This innovation from Travelex really fits the profile of what we’re trying to achieve – it provides operational flexibility but also convenience for customers, allowing Travelex to take their currency exchange services to passengers at key touchpoints.”
