HONG KONG. Nuance-Watson (HK) has retained the perfumes and cosmetics contract at Hong Kong International airport.
Now, both retailer and airport have their hopes pinned on a rapid traffic recovery after the desperate recent SARS-related slump which saw Nuance-Watson’s business fall by over -80% at one point.
Airport Authority spokeswoman Eva Tsang confirmed that the incumbent had retained its concession, which covers nine stores in the SkyMart shopping mall.
The contract is for five years, she said, and the authority has an option to extend for a further two.
An average of about 200 passenger flights per week have resumed services at the airport in June as the slow recovery from the SARS crisis begins.
The authority said the number of re-instated flights will increase further in July with an additional 270 weekly flight movements already confirmed.
Airlines coming back include Air India, Gulf Air, Mekong Airlines, Pacific Airline and Turkish Airlines.
Cathay Pacific announced last week that it plans to resume approximately 170 weekly services, and operate at 71% of normal capacity from July, due to expectations of a rise in demand over summer.
