HONG KONG. Nuance-Watson (Hong Kong) is celebrating a strong performance in the recent luxury brand boutiques tender at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), including a number of critical “˜firsts’.
The company will operate the first Giorgio Armani boutique at an airport worldwide, and its Pal Zileri and Samsonite Black Label concessions will be these brands’ first at an Asian airport. Other brand stores to be operated by the retailer include Bally, Hugo Boss, Omega and The Peninsula Boutique.
Bally, Hugo Boss, Omega and The Peninsula are among the leading brands for which Nuance-Watson (HK) has managed operations since HKIA’s last round of luxury brand boutique tenders in 2003.
The new licences will run until 2013, and cover a total area of 520sq m, +60% more retail space than Nuance-Watson (HK) won during the 2003 tender. The new boutiques will begin launching next spring with full completion by autumn 2009.
Nuance-Watson (HK) Regional Managing Director Alessandra Piovesana said: “Our victories in such highly competitive tenders are a clear indication that our commitment to innovation and growth has been recognised by the Airport Authority.
“Coupled with the extension of our General Merchandise and Perfumes & Cosmetics operations and the recent award of the Audio Visual Electronic Equipment licence, the new concessions will solidify our presence at HKIA for several years to come. The new brands portfolio combines a mix of brands that covers the typical luxury product categories like fashion and watches, as well as fine food and travel goods which represent a more sophisticated expression of individual luxury lifestyle. The new brands are sure to enhance passengers’ travel choices and appreciation.”
Since establishing operations at HKIA in 1998 Nuance-Watson (HK) has provided a showcase for numerous high-end brands.
A successful track record
Opened in 1998, the Nuance-Watson (HK)-operated Bally boutique at HKIA is now number one for sales at all Bally travel retail stores worldwide.
Premiered in 2003, Hugo Boss’s HKIA boutique also ranks first in terms of productivity of all Boss-branded travel retail outlets. In both 2005 and 2007, this Nuance-Watson (HK)-managed boutique won the brand’s coveted ‘Travel Retail Shop of the Year’ Award.
The first Omega flagship store at any Asian airport, Nuance-Watson’s HKIA Omega boutique ranks No. 1 in sales among the brand’s airport stores across Asia.
As the brand’s only airport boutique in the world, The Peninsula store at HKIA has recreated the 5-star ambience of the famed Hong Kong hospitality landmark.
